Our latest release introduces a powerful new feature called Decorators. This feature allows you to label various types of content (such as music tracks, content, smart folders, formulas, etc.) with custom values that align with your specific business needs. By doing so, you gain additional control over how your music and content are played back in your station programming.
Decorators, in combination with rules, offer a wide range of programming capabilities. The "Minimum Over Time" and "Maximum Over Time" rules enable you to select songs of a particular classification and configure their minimum or maximum playback frequency over a specific window of time.
Here is an example to illustrate the concept:
Example 1: "Minimum Over Time"
Suppose you need to play at least six tracks per hour from artists of a specific country. To achieve this, you can assign a "COUNTRYCODE" Decorator (i.e. "usa" or "canada") to all tracks with artists from the same country. Then, include this Decorator in your Minimum Over Time rule on your station or clock, and you're all set.

Using the “Separation” rule provides for granular song spacing continuity within your station. Not only can you separate songs by music genres or features such as energy, aggression, tonality and vocal gender, but Decorators allow for custom song classification separation in whatever way you choose!
Example 2: "Separation"
Let's say you have a country station with numerous beer-drinking songs, and you want to separate playback of these songs by at least twenty minutes. By adding a "beerdrinking" Decorator to these songs and creating a Separation rule, you can ensure proper song playback and enjoy peace of mind.

Global & Local:
Decorators contain different scopes of assignment, meaning, within the Playlists section you can add a Decorator at the “Global” level or the “Playlist” level.
- If you want a Decorator on a song to apply to your entire music catalog, choose the “Global” configuration. Wherever this song is programmed, this Global Decorator will apply.
- If you want a Decorator to only apply to one specific Playlist, choose the “Playlist” configuration. This allows for custom programming scenarios that do not impact usage of the same songs throughout other Playlists or Episodes.
Decorators are not case sensitive, meaning you can use any combination of upper and lowercase letters, and for efficiency you are able to copy & paste a Decorator value from one to another.
