We're excited to announce the latest enhancements and fixes in our recent release. For an outline, please refer to the release notes section at the end of this communication. This week, we're spotlighting Station and Clock "Rules".
The “Rules” feature is located within the Stations section, providing you with increased control over a variety of different track playback parameters that you can set across your station as a whole, or on individual clocks for more granularity.
Program Director currently provides nine rules for you to adjust track playback frequency using your music catalog metadata. This metadata is dynamically added to tracks throughout your music catalog upon initial file ingestion via Super Hi-Fi’s Prism analysis pipeline. You can also apply custom metadata, called Decorators, to any track that suits your needs.
For each rule, you can set playback frequency, choose attributes like Music Features, Decorators, Genres, and Styles, and adjust their values. You can view individual track audio insights values within the Playlists section by clicking on the "P" icon on a track thumbnail. These rules are detailed below:
- Maximum in a Row: Limit the number of consecutive tracks with the same value(s) for playback.
- Separation: Define the separation interval of certain types of track playback by any amount of time that suits your needs.
- Minimum Over Time: Schedule a minimum number of tracks with specified values to play within a defined time frame.
- Exclusion: Quickly filter out any artist, album, or track for a particular clock or station. Simply drag and drop your selection into the exclude panel and click "Add".
- Maximum Over Time: Cap the number of tracks with specific values playing within a chosen time period.
- Minimum Value: Set a baseline value for any music feature across all tracks designated for playback in a clock or station.
- Average Value Over Time: Determine the average value of any music feature across tracks for a specified duration.
- Maximum Value: Define the upper limit for any music feature value across all scheduled tracks in a clock or station.
- DMCA: Apply playback settings based on copyright law passed by the United States which ensures appropriate artist and track separation in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Release Notes:
Playlists:
- When removing a sequential packet from a playlist, the duration of the playlist was not displaying the accurate calculation, this has now been resolved.
- When reordering packets within a playlist, at times a server error was returned, this has been fixed.
- When copying a playlist with a single packet to a new playlist the new playlist would display zero as the duration, this issue has been corrected to show the accurate duration.
- When dragging and dropping an ordered playlist with three tracks into an ordered playlist with three packets and the order would not maintain state, this is now fixed.
- When successfully creating a nested packet and clicking the breadcrumb to go back to the parent packet, the nested packet would disappear, this has now been resolved.
- When clearing all the contents of a packet, the updated duration will show a negative value, this is no longer the case and displays the correct duration.
- A console error that had been occurring each time you click into the All Playlists folder in playlists has been resolved.
- When removing all tracks from the root of the playlist, the duration would display a negative number, this is no longer the case.
Stations:
- When promoting a rule from a clock level rule into a station level rule, the time interval set, and the decorator added would be removed, this issue has now been resolved.
- We have updated the categories column within the clocks area to display “Items” instead of “Tracks”, to account for instances when there are packets within a playlist.
- Within the Show search panel: image sizes had been previously displaying 48 x 64 rather than showing accurately as a square when clicking into the show, this is now fixed.
Streaming Playback:
- Significant improvements to the rescheduling logic have been put in place, ensuring a much smoother transition when transitioning from the previously scheduled programming to newly scheduled programming.
- Updated time zone logic has been put in place for rescheduling wherein a syndication will have log offsets when multiple streams are used outside of the parent stream time zone, to ensure log retention and no disruption in scheduled programming.
- Improvements to the rescheduling logic were put in place providing more precision on programming log timing for Shows and Episodes.
- Many improvements were made to the logic and calculation for top of hour playback.
